Four days past schedule

Oops. This blog hasn't had a very good start.

Or maybe it has. This actually relates to a chapter I read recently in Psycho-Cybernetics about success. While I won't sum it up completely, in short it discusses how we dwell on our past mistakes and often identify with them as a part of ourselves. In other words we believe that we are our mistakes. One of the points the chapter stressed was how mistakes are inevitable on the path to success.

An often used analogy in the book is a heat seating missile. It operates under the principle of negative feedback. It continually focuses on the target while checking to see if it is straying off course. If it is off course the missile's software adjusts the trajectory to get back on course.

If you really stop to think about it this is how we all achieve our goals. We need to set a definite target and use the principles of negative feedback to keep ourselves on track. We must also not get caught up in believing that we are our mistakes. EVERYONE makes mistakes and the success chapter in Psycho-Cybernetics gives many examples of this. Mistakes are an inevitable part of achieving your goals. I'm sure if we could all beat this into our heads we'd be much better off.
